Shabbat Set

This set combines a challah board and candlesticks. The challah board has topographic levels corresponding to the fine grain of the reclaimed elmwood. The sterling silver candleholders nestle into the board during the week, then separate for lighting on Friday night. A sterling silver salt cellar integrated into the board completes the composition.

Shabbat Candelabra

This 9-branched Shabbat candelabra was commissioned to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Each Friday night, the silver form unfolds, and a candle is lit for each member of this family of 9. The curved reflectors disperse light into the room, creating an undulating wall of flickering flames. During the week, three hinged sections fold in on themselves, and are locked in place with a silver catch, displaying the buffed silver exterior.

Flower Candlesticks

During the week, the folded petals of these candlesticks lie in wait. On Friday evening, the flowers bloom—you open the blossoms, and light candles at their centers. The multi-petalled rose which inspired this design is a kabbalistic symbol of Shabbat; the six petals here are the weekdays whose full potential is revealed on the Sabbath.

Shabbat Glow Candles

This candleholder, developed exclusively for The Jewish Museum Shop by designer Amy Reichert, reflects the golden glow of Shabbat candles. The incised Hebrew letters make up the final words of the blessing recited over the candles. After the candles are lit, the warm light illuminates the blessing, reminding us to embrace this sacred time each week.

The candleholder brass is sealed with wax, which guards against tarnishing. The honey onyx is a natural stone and varies slightly between each piece. Glass cups are included and hold tea lights for the weekly Shabbat candle lighting ritual.

Produced in a limited edition of 125. Each one is signed and numbered.

Jerusalem Candles

Night Blossom Menorah

According to Jewish tradition, the original temple menorah was made of gold, almond-blossom-shaped cups. In this modern riff on that design inspiration, you to scatter almond blossoms in a shallow midnight blue ceramic bowl filled with water. The pool or water both reflects the candlelight, and provides a dramatic and clean way for the candles to sizzle out as they burn down. Each ceramic dish is handmade in Chicago by master potter Chris Busse, and vary slightly in color and shape. This menorah makes a lovely centerpiece which will enchant your guests at Hanukah and beyond! Available from this website, and Celebrations the Jewish Museum Design Shop, NYC.

Jerusalem Modern Lights Menorah

The Jerusalem Modern Lights Menorah, embodies the basic concept of Hanukah as “increasing light”. Each night you lift another reflector and light another candle, until the entire menorah is ablaze. Sail Candlesticks

The tall backs of these candlesticks softly reflect the light of the tea candles into the room, symbolizing the added light and warm glow of the Sabbath. This original design was commissioned by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, Cleveland.
